British Optical Association Museum at The College of Optometrists
The oldest and largest museum of ophthalmic artefacts in the U.K. The Club has had close contacts with the Museum for many years and several members helped with the new inventory of its contents. Curator, Neil Handley, is Assistant Editor of the Club. The website is now featuring a very detailed and informative Virtual Museum, the MusEYEum.
The College of Optometrists Library
Club Members, who are not College Members, may apply to use some Library facilities but must first contact the Club Chairman for registration with the College. Librarian, Jan Ayres, is always most helpful with information and advice.
The Ocular Heritage Society

www.antiquespectacles.com
A new and very comprehensive website has been set up by Club Member, Dr. David Fleishman from the U.S.
It is an online museum and encyclopedia which offers over 250 webpages of information and detailed history along with more than 4000 images. He has had the assistance of more than 1000 educators worldwide and all sorts of optical treasures are coming to light because of this unique totally educational research project.
Royal College of Ophthalmologists' Museum
Club member, Richard Keeler, is honorary curator of the museum, which has a wonderful collection of old ophthalmoscopes and many other instruments.
The Norville Collection of Optical Manufacturing Equipment
Principal, Frank Norville, is the fourth generation of the family, which founded in 1898 Norville’s spectacle making activities in the City of Gloucester now more than a century ago. A staunch supporter of the Club and an honorary life member of the College of Optometrists, he is keen to preserve the history of 20th century optical manufacturing equipment. To this end he is amassing a collection at the company's headquarters and would be interested to learn of any interesting old items which are being disposed of.
Barraclough & Stiles Opticians
The optical partnership founded by our Chairman will help with any queries relevant to the contemporary optical scene. The designer and webmaster of our new Club website, David Cleworth, also designed the Barraclough & Stiles site.
